  • Luke Otter

    Luke has hospitality in the blood, having literally been raised in a pub. His parents were "Landlord & Landlady" of an old English for almost 15 years. Around 8 years ago in his home town he met his now wife, Tanya, who is a kiwi and she dragged him (very willingly) back with her. They spent a year or so working their way across Europe and Australia before landing in NZ in 2011. As Tanya was brought up in Howick, they naturally ended up back there. Luke quickly fell in love with the wonderful village charm and when the opportunity arose to open a little place on "The Corner" of Howick bustling little main street, he jumped at the chance. The rest, as they say, is history!

    Assistant Manager
    Another Luke (just to make it easy for you to remember our names!) with a strong hospitality background. Climbing the ranks from glass collector at the tender age of 16 years old to his current role as the owners number two and right hand man. Luke loves his craft beer and makes it his mission to keep The Corner's selection interesting and ever changing (to keep up with the daily changing food menu). He's also an old hand on the cocktail front and can whip up something to suit every occasion. Put his skills to the test next time you are in!!

    Head Chef
    Adding 15+ years experience to the kitchen team, Mark brings with him a broad array of different cuisine styles, adds his own style to the daily changing specials menu. With his super organised approach, he helps keep up our ever rising standards on the food front!
  • Tanya Otter

    Owner's Wife
    When she is not looking after her and Luke's 2 kids (Lily & Max) she comes down to The Corner and makes sure everything is sailing smoothly. With a hospitality background as strong as any of the team, she likes to keep her hand in with a few waitress shifts here and there. If you are one of the lucky ones to be served by Tanya when she does the occasional shift you will be all the better for it!!
